Learning to Honour Our Ancestors
We grew up hearing this phrase ooMama bomThandazo and I am not sure if everyone understands the power behind it. These are women whom when they kneel down to pray uQamata/uMvelingqangi answers them there and then. Meaning they possess the power to move God's hand.
The same thing happens ebuGqirheni. I was having a conversation with one of ooGogo I talk with about Spirituality and she was telling me that she is learning to go emsamweni wakhe when things are not going well in her house hold and everytime she would be answered there and then. That is how it's supposed to be. Our solutions and answers are eMsamo. I encourage everyone to have umsamo because that's where your wealth is - with your Ancestors. South Africa is in the state it is in because we never continued with the legacy that our forefathers left us which is to always stay in touch with our Providers who are our Ancestors. In order to move God's hands, we need to move Him through our Ancestors and that is why you would pray without any answers because you are not using the correct channel which is through our Ancestors. We are so Westernised to a point where we never learned to praise our Ancestors nor call upon them.
Imagine a day where you wake up and the first thing you do is to talk to your Ancestors and thank them for their protection and ask them to bless your day. Before anything else you connect with your Divine Powers and make them aware that they are the pillars of your life and the most people in your life. You made them aware that they RULE and REIGN in your life and when you do this you leave them with no choice that they should do so.
You would hear people saying so and so is powerful. The truth would be, it's not about his/her power but having learned to feed their providers. You cannot starve your providers and hope to have a smooth life. My mentality is trained to think this way; if things are not going well in my life that means there is a something I am not doing right and I need to fix that. This always has to do with my Providers and I need to kneel down and ask them what is wrong. If you have learnt to keep a flowing communication with them they will tell you there and then that you are not doing things right. So this marks the importance of building a strong relationship with our Ancestors and be intimate with them and loving them. Are we aware that they know when we just want them to help us with our issues, but not eager to build a relationship with them and that is why you will talk and talk and they wouldn't answer. So we need to build a very strong relationship with them and give them the honour they deserve.........give your Ancestors honour and they will honour you and show you they have your back.
